Submitting a Business License & Occupancy Permit Application is your first step. The City reviews your application for zoning conformance and your application is submitted to the Board of Aldermen for review. Review time(s) may vary. If all criteria is met you will be sent an invoice and upon payment your business license will be issued.
Chapter 605 of the Byrnes Mill Municipal Code discusses definitions, licensing and fees as pertains to businesses located within the City.
Chapter 600 contains all information on alcoholic beverages as pertains to both temporary and permanent regulations.
**Annual Business (& Alcohol) Licenses are to be renewed prior to July 1st of each calendar year.**

State law requires all businesses that have product subject to retail sales tax to submit a "Certificate of No Tax Due" letter from the Department of Revenue indicating that there are no outstanding sales taxes due. This is required for a new business license or a renewal. To obtain your Certificate of No Tax Due contact the Department of Revenue's Taxation Division at (573) 751-9268 or visit No Tax Due System at http://dor.mo.gov/business/sales/notaxdue.
A company (if applicable) must provide the Federal Form 501(c)3 indicating tax exempt status in order to waive the business license fee. Exempt accounts remain responsible for other fees, inspections and applications to provide any license or permit.
It is the sole responsibility of the business requesting a license from the City of Byrnes Mill to meet all applicable requirements of the State of Missouri, Jefferson County and the United States.
All business licenses expire annually on June 30th. Delinquent renewals are subject to late penalties.
State law requires that any contractor in the construction industry must attach to this application, a Certificate of Insurance for proof of Workers' Compensation Coverage or an affidavit by the applicant attesting that the contractor is WC exempt. Questions should be addressed to the Missouri Division of Workers' compensation at (800) 775-2667 or your insurance company.
The occupancy permit and business license are to be posted at the place of business in a location that is clearly visible to the public.
