Be Cautious of National Police Association Donation Requests

It has come to the attention of Chief Selvaggio that some residents may have received a letter from the National Police Association - 2019 Byrnes Mill Annual Appeal.  This is NOT a letter or donation request from the Byrnes Mill Police Department or City Hall.  After researching, Chief Selvaggio found that while the National Police Association is a registered nonprofit organization, they say they generally do not donate directly to police departments.  Chief Selvaggio also said that in his 38 years in law enforcement, he has never heard of the National Police Association and no one from that organization reached out to him regarding using Byrnes Mill as part of their donation campaign.  If you do receive a letter from the National Police Association requesting a donation to the "2019 Byrnes Mill Annual Appeal" the Byrnes Mill Police Department is advising residents to be cautious and to do some research before contributing.  Please call the Police Department or City Hall with any questions or concerns.
