The fourth weekend of every August, event volunteers take to the Meramec River and its tributaries, working to undo damage caused throughout the year by flooding, careless littering and the unlawful dumping of trash. This year the local Byrnes Mill team, made up of about 20 volunteers, met at Rockford Beach and ended in Byrnes Mill Park. According to area coordinator, Mayor Rob Kiczenski, the team removed over 75 tires from the river as well as 50 bags of trash and half of a camper shell from a truck. A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped that day and thank you to the local shops, Price Chopper, The Blue Owl Bakery and Slingers, for donating food and drinks for the event.
